WELCOME TO THE XXXVII JORNADAS DE ECONOMIA INDUSTRIAL
The Department of Economic Analysis of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is delighted to host the XXXVII Jornadas de Economía Industrial, to be held in Bilbao, Spain, on the 7-8 September 2023. The Jornadas is an annual international meeting of researchers in Industrial Economics organized by the Industrial Economics Committee of the Spanish Economic Association (AEE). Since 1985, the meeting has provided an opportunity for researchers in Industrial Economics to discuss their ongoing work, share ideas and network. For more than three decades, the meeting has attracted more than one hundred participants from different countries. We hope that this new edition will continue this tradition.

CALL FOR PAPERS
We welcome submissions of high quality papers – both empirical and theoretical – in Industrial Organization and related fields. Authors may submit more than one paper, but only one accepted paper can be presented.
All papers must be written in English, and the submitted files must be in PDF format, with a maximum size of 3MB.
The deadline for paper submissions is May 14th, 2023. Authors will be notified about the status of their papers by June 05th, 2023.
Interested researchers must submit their papers by means of the online submission platform available at Conference Maker:
IMPORTANT: Authors of accepted papers should register by July 23rd, 2023 in order to have their papers included in the final conference program. As it is traditional at the Jornadas, speakers should be willing to act as discussants of a paper at the conference.

REGISTRATION
Accepted papers are only included in the final program if presenting authors register for the Jornadas by July 23rd, 2023. The early registration deadline is July 9th, 2023. The registration deadline for other participants is July 30th, 2023.
Registration Fees
Registrations include access to all workshop sessions, coffee breaks, reception, luncheon, and conference dinner. Registrations of accompanying persons include the conference dinner.

Cancellation/refund policy: Cancellation of conference registration and requests for refunds must be submitted at JEI2023@ehu.eus. Cancellation requests will imply a 20€ processing cancellation fee. Refunds are not given for no-shows.

ACCOMMODATION
Participants at the JEI2023 should make their own hotel reservations. Bilbao offers a wide range of accommodation options. On the page of the Bilbao tourist office, you can do a simple search by combining the area of the city where you want to stay, column on the left, with the hotel category, column on the right.
All the hotels and apartments provide comfortable and suited accommodation for individual or shared occupancy. They are subject to availability, so early booking is strongly recommended. Most hotels have a very flexible free cancellation policy.
Due to its proximity to the Faculty, the local conference committee has reached an agreement with Hotel NH Bilbao Deusto (included on the tourism page within “Otras zonas de Bilbao”).

VENUE
The conference will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). It is located here. Conference Offices at the Lobby of the Faculty.
TRANSPORT
You can access the Faculty of Economics and Business, the conference venue, using public transportation:
Public Buses:
There is a bus from Bilbao airport to the city center from 6:00 to 20:00 every 20 minutes and from 20:00 to 22:00 every 30 minutes (line A3247). The price of the Occasional Ticket on line A3247 from Bilbao – Aireportua/Airport (for those who do not use the Barik Card) is 3€. INFO
If you are in the city center, lines 10, 13, 18 and 71 of Bilbobus connect the city center and the Faculty of Economics and Business (Sarriko). The bus stop next to the campus is Sarriko.
Taxi:
You can also take a taxi from Bilbao airport to the city center. You can book a taxi by phone (+34) 944 800 909 or by filling out the booking form on their website. Approximate rate: 28-30€.
Metro:
The Faculty of Economics and Business is also accessible by underground (Lines L1 and L2). The metro stop next to the campus is Sarriko. You can buy a single ticket or a multiple-trip Creditrans Barik card. The single ticket cost is 1.70€ (1 zone), 1.90€ (2 zones) and 1.95€ (3 zones). The barik card has a Creditrans wallet card. The credit loaded on the card is consumed as trips are made. The Creditrans Barik card cost €3 the first time you buy the card, and 0.48€ (1 zone), 0.57€ (2 zones) and 0.62€ (3 zones) each trip. The Creditrans Barik card is compatible with the tram and public buses. They can be purchased from vending machines at all stations.
By bike:
The Faculty of Economics and Business is also accessible by bike using the lanes for this purpose. The municipal Bike Share Service of Bilbao, «Bilbaobizi», is conceived as a public service of individual rental of electric bicycles that aims to favor and promote this healthy, sustainable and non-polluting means of transport by the city..

YOUNG ECONOMIST PRIZE
A Young Economist Award will be given to an exceptionally original and high-quality paper written by a young researcher who has completed his or her PhD after 31st December 2018. In the case of papers with more than one author, this criterion must be met by all co-authors. If you would like to be considered for the award, please send an email to jo.seldeslachts@kuleuven.be, indicating «YEP Award Candidate» in the subject line. The YEP winner will be selected by the scientific committee and announced during the conference. The prize includes an honorarium of 1000 Euros.
