Universidad de Alicante is pleased to host the 44th Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía-Spanish Economic Association (SAEe), to be held in Alicante, Spain, on 12-14 December 2019.
The SAEe is the annual conference of the Spanish Economic Association and it brings together experts in all fields of Economics every year in December. From this 2019 edition, important new activities will be incorporated:
Ph.D. Student Sessions. While the European Job Market will take place in Rotterdam this year, the SAEe still provides a vibrant venue for PhD students to present their work by including PhD Student Sessions. Each student paper will have a discussant and Fundación Ramón Areces will award 50 grants covering the registration fee.
Invited Sessions. The program includes three invited sessions:
Session organized by the Committee on Education in Economics with Abdulah Al-Bahrani (Northern Kentucky University), Ralf Becker (University of Manchester) and Guglielmo Volpe (Queen Mary University of London).
Session organized by COSME with Vicente Cuñat (London School of Economics), Friederike Mengel (University of Essex) and Andrea Weber (Central European University).
Session on Economics of Innovation with Bruno Cassiman (IESE), Chiara Franzoni (Polytechnic University of Milan) and Otto Toivanen (Aalto School of Business).
- Ph.D. School. On Wednesday 11 December, the Spanish Economic Association organizes the first SAEe PhD School where Manuel Arellano (CEMFI) and Dmitry Arkhangelsky (CEMFI) will teach the course “Advances in the Econometrics of Program Evaluation and Inequality”. The number of available places is limited. PhD students, as well as recent PhD graduates, must submit their academic CV (which should include contact details of academic advisors or sponsors) by September 6th to phd.school.sea@gmail.com. Participants should register to the SAEe. The Spanish Economic Association will award 20 fellowships for students participating in the school. The fellowships will cover the registration fees for the selected candidates. Admission to the school and awarded fellowships will be announced on September 15th. Students that had submitted a paper to the PhD Student Sessions will have priority in the selection of the participants in the School. Please find attached more detailed information about the contents of the course and how to apply.
