In the context of the case opened by the Court of Accounts, the executive committee of the Spanish Economic Association wants to express its solidarity with Professor Andreu Mas-Colell in gratitude for his enormous contribution to the development of academic institutions in our country.
Andreu Mas-Colell was the first president of the Spanish Economic Association in 1997. After being a full professor at the universities of California (Berkeley) and Harvard, he returned to Spain to found the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the ICREA program, and the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. In addition, he was General Secretary of the European Research Council from where he played a key role in promoting scientific research in Europe.
Professor Mas-Colell has been an extraordinary researcher and an inspiring teacher for many economists. The generosity and integrity demonstrated in his academic and professional activities is a model to follow for all Spanish economists and scientists.

En el contexto de la causa abierta por el Tribunal de Cuentas, el comité ejecutivo de la Asociación Española de Economía quiere expresar su solidaridad con el profesor Andreu Mas-Colell en agradecimiento por su enorme contribución al desarrollo de las instituciones académicas en nuestro país.
Andreu Mas-Colell fue el primer presidente de la Asociación Española de Economía en 1997. Tras su paso como catedrático de las universidades de California (Berkeley) y Harvard volvió a España para fundar la Universitat Pompeu Fabra, el programa ICREA y la Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. Además, fue Secretario General del European Research Council desde donde jugó un papel clave impulsando la investigación científica en Europa.
El profesor Mas-Colell ha sido un investigador extraordinario y un maestro inspirador para muchos economistas. La generosidad e integridad demostrada en su trayectoria académica y profesional constituye un modelo a seguir para los economistas y científicos españoles.
