Dating Committee
In December 2012, the Spanish Economic Association created the Spanish Business Cycle Dating Committee. The committee follows a methodology similar to those of the CEPR Euro Area Business Cycle Dating Committee and the NBER Business Cycle Dating Committee to provide a chronology of the Spanish Business Cycle.
The main objective of the Cycle Dating Committee of the Spanish Economic Association is to establish an updated chronology of the Spanish economic cycle. The committee makes the chronology public in order to provide reliable information to society, whether in the field of academic research or in any other public or private context. The objective is to identify turning points in the economic cycles that reflect phases of expansion and recession of Spanish economic activity, taking into account a broad set of variables. The committee is made up of six members, whose participation is not remunerated, and is strictly in a personal capacity, with total independence from the institutions to which they are professionally linked.
